Wor-Wic offers new EMS Scholarship Opportunity
December 16, 2009

A new scholarship opportunity is being offered to individuals interested in enrolling in the emergency medical services (EMS) program at Wor-Wic Community College, with preference given to students from Somerset County.

The scholarships, which cover tuition, fees, books, child care and transportation, will be awarded to students who meet the eligibility requirements of the Workforce Investment Act. Students who receive an EMS scholarship must maintain a 2.5 grade point average and serve as a volunteer or career EMS provider for a minimum of one year in Somerset, Wicomico or Worcester County.

Wor-Wic is offering the scholarships in partnership with the Lower Shore Workforce Alliance (LSWA), workforce division of Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland (TCC) and Somerset County Emergency Services. The partnership was created to address EMS training and employment needs in Somerset County, as well as the rest of the Lower Eastern Shore.
