Insurance Courses Offered in January

Anyone interested in a career in the insurance field can benefit from taking certification preparation courses being offered in January by the continuing education division at Wor-Wic Community College on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

Develop an understanding of life and health insurance contracts, underwriting basics, terminology, estate planning, various plans and benefits, insurance laws, and income tax considerations and implications by taking “Life and Health Insurance.” The class will meet on Fridays, Jan. 22 through Feb. 5, from 1 to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays, Jan. 23 through Feb. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Learn about laws and regulations, terms and definitions, and types of insurance relating to fire, marine, public liability, automobile, worker’s compensation, employer liability, crime protection, and boiler and machinery liability by taking “Property and Casualty Insurance.” The class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 25 through April 14, from 6 to 10 p.m.

These courses are required by the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation in order to take the test for certification.
