April 10, 2006

An endowed scholarship for emergency medical services (EMS) students at Wor-Wic Community College has been established in memory of Staff Sgt. Michael McMullen. A 2004 EMS graduate of Wor-Wic and a career firefighter/paramedic with the Salisbury Fire Department, McMullen died recently as a result of injuries sustained while serving with the Maryland Army National Guard in Iraq. On behalf of the college, Daniel R. Webster Jr., second from right, assistant instructor of EMS, and Dr. Stephen L. Capelli, far right, vice president for academic and student affairs, accept a donation of $5,000 from McMullen’s parents, David and Robin McMullen of Salisbury. McMullen’s fiancé, Kim Mundorf of Salisbury, second from left, stood with the family in support of the scholarship.
