The board of trustees of Wor-Wic Community College awarded scholarships to 12 high school graduates from the tri-county area.

The board of trustees provides a full-tuition scholarship of up to 18 hours per semester for the most academically-talented high school senior applicant from each of the 10 public high schools and two of the four private high schools in Worcester, Wicomico and Somerset counties.

This year’s scholarship recipients include Sunny Chandler from Salisbury Christian School, Lorelei Chesley from Mardela Middle and High School, Michelle Conaway from James M. Bennett High School, Emily French from Pocomoke High School, Brandy Inkrote from Washington High School, Heather Johnson from Delmar Junior-Senior High School, Kristen Johnson from Holly Grove Christian School, Kristal Kinnamon from Parkside High School, Tiffany Lyon from Crisfield High School, Michelle Rossignol from Wicomico High School, Elizabeth Schmidt from Snow Hill High School and Kelly Waldner from Stephen Decatur High School.

In order to qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have at least a 3.25 GPA on an unweighted 4.0 scale. They must also apply for admission to Wor-Wic before April 1 of their senior year in high school, as well as complete a board of trustees scholarship application form.

The scholarships are awarded to the applicants with the highest GPA from each school, followed by the highest total number of credits earned and the earliest admission application. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA and enroll in consecutive fall and spring semesters in order to receive the scholarship for four semesters.

High school students interested in more information about the scholarship should call the college’s financial aid office at (410) 334-2905.
