Financial and Leadership Courses Offered in January

Learn about financial solutions for small businesses, investing and leadership techniques by taking finance or leadership courses being offered this January by Wor-Wic Community College.

“Accounting and Financial Analysis for the Small Business – Introduction” can help anyone who owns or is interested in owning a small business learn practical accounting procedures and day-to-day control. The class will meet on Mondays, Jan. 23 through March 27, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the college campus on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

A new course, “Tax Tips for the Home-Based Business and the Self-Employed,” is designed to help home-based business owners and the self-employed gain a better understanding of tax deductions and filing the Schedule C form. The class will meet on Tuesdays, Jan. 24 through Feb. 7, from 6-9 p.m., at the college campus in Salisbury.

“Retirement Planning for Small Business” is a new course that can help sole proprietors and S and C corporations learn about the strategies available for small business owners to reduce current income taxes while saving for retirement, including IRAs, 401(k)s, SEPs, SIMPLES, disability and estate planning. The class will meet on Wednesdays, Jan. 25 through Feb. 15, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the college’s Berlin-Ocean City Instructional Center in Berlin.

Develop an understanding of the economy and securities markets while exploring ways to take advantage of current interest rates in the marketplace by taking “Basic Securities and Investing Fundamentals,” which is being offered on Wednesdays, Jan. 25 through Feb. 22, from 6:30-9:30 p.m., at Parkside High School in Salisbury.

“Building Collaboration and Teamwork” is designed to help managers obtain the skills necessary to improve cooperation, accountability and interdependence within the teams they lead. The class will meet on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the college campus in Salisbury.

Managers can learn how to assign tasks appropriately and effectively, empower employees and use communication and feedback techniques by taking “Getting it All Done: Effective Delegating,” which is being offered on Friday, Jan. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the college campus in Salisbury.
