Computer Information Sessions Scheduled

Wor-Wic Community College is offering free continuing education computer information sessions in Salisbury and Berlin, to help prospective students determine what courses or sequence of courses would best meet their needs.

The Berlin session will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, at the college’s Berlin-Ocean City Instructional Center off Route 50 in Berlin. The Salisbury sessions will be held on Thursday, Jan. 12, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and Friday, Jan. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Room 111 of the Academic and Administrative Building at the college campus on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road.

Community and continuing education administrators and faculty members will be available to help those new to computers determine what to take first, as well as helping more advanced users determine how to upgrade their existing job skills.

Non-credit computer courses are being offered this winter in computer-aided drafting (CAD), desktop publishing, digital tools, graphics and digital imaging, Internet, personal computer hardware, networking and security, QuickBooks and Web page design. Microsoft courses include Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Word, and Windows and Office XP.

More than 150 online courses are also being offered for those interested in improving their skills but do not have the time to attend a traditional class. Online computer topics include basic computer literacy, computer applications, graphic design, digital photography and video, computer troubleshooting and networking, computer programming and database management, Web page design, programming, graphics and multimedia, and courses for teaching professionals. Online computer certification courses include A+, Network+ and Microsoft Windows.
