Law Enforcement Class Graduates

Twenty-eight law enforcement officers from Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, Dorchester, Caroline, Kent, Talbot and Allegany counties graduated in the 50th entrance-level class of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy operated by Wor-Wic Community College at the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

Graduation exercises, which were held in Guerrieri Hall at the college campus, featured a commencement address by Sheriff James W. Phillips Jr. of the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

James M. Beatty Sr., director of the ESCJA, presided at the ceremony. Awards of certification and excellence were presented by Lee Goldman, administrator of police training at the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions in Woodstock, Md., and various agency representatives. James J. Rodriguez of the Ocean City Police Department was the class speaker. Closing remarks were made by Goldman.

In addition to Rodriguez, graduates included Dave A. Parsons and Jason K. Harrington of the Salisbury Police Department, Jordan T. Banks, Stephen M. Creason, Brian M. Kulig and Benjamin M. Reinert of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department, Travis D. Cowger of the Fruitland Police Department, Matthew R. Corbin of the Berlin Police Department, Ramon R. Ortiz of the Ocean Pines Police Department, Richard D. Daum of the Crisfield Police Department, and Vicky M. Fisher and Brian A. Trader of the Pocomoke City Police Department.

Upper Shore graduates included David L. Thomas III of the Cambridge Police Department, Danny L. Hagadorn Jr. and Randy A. W. Lewis of the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Kevin J. Messick of the Hurlock Police Department, Brian R. Duehrssen of the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office, Michael D. Hines and Eric M. Kellner of the Easton Police Department, Timothy M. Campbell of the Chestertown Police Department and William J. Dempsey IV of the Rock Hall Police Department.

Also graduating were Eric W. Bonner, James D. Burt, Justin G. Cook, Jeffrey B. Fairley, Todd D. Pressman and Eric C. Rice of the Cumberland City Police Department.
