Veterinary Assistant Training Begins Sept. 20

Anyone interested in pursuing a career in veterinary assisting can obtain the necessary knowledge and skills by taking the "Veterinary Assistant Training" four-course series being offered by the continuing education office at Wor-Wic Community College.

The first course in the series, "Veterinary Assistant Training: Outpatient Care," will be held on Wednesdays, Sept. 20 through Nov. 1, from 6:30 to 9:45 p.m., at the college campus on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury. In addition to the classroom instruction, students must complete an additional 12 hours of clinical hours in a local veterinary hospital.

Students must provide proof of previous successful college course work or they must meet minimum reading comprehension requirements before registering.

The three remaining courses in the series cover diagnostics and pharmacy, patient care and treatment, and surgery, anesthesia and emergency care.
