Law Enforcement Class Graduates

Twenty-two law enforcement officers from Wicomico, Worcester, Dorchester, Caroline and Kent counties graduated in the 57th entrance-level class of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy (ESCJA) operated by Wor-Wic Community College at the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

Graduation exercises, which were held in Guerrieri Hall at the college campus, featured a commencement address by Sheriff Michael A. Lewis of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department.

James M. Beatty Sr., Wor-Wic’s director of criminal justice, presided at the ceremony. Awards of certification and excellence were presented by Patrick Bradley, executive director of the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions in Woodstock, Md., and various agency representatives. Daniel B. Jacobs of the Ocean City Police Department was the class speaker. Closing remarks were made by Bradley.

In addition to Jacobs, graduates included John T. Dallam, Kevin J. McCahill and Justin L. Smithhart of the Delmar Police Department, Jeffry E. Heath of the Fruitland Police Department, Eric C. Baker, Joseph P. Burt, Thomas J. Burt, Daniel R. Calhoun, Stephen J. Smith, Tracy R. Sparpaglione and William J. Woodward Jr. of the Salisbury Police Department, Shawn P. Lindsey and Jennifer N. Smithhart of the Ocean City Police Department, and David H. Adams and Shawn D. McDowell of the Ocean Pines Police Department.

Upper Shore graduates included Matthew W. Lauck of the Cambridge Police Department, Jeffrey S. Adams, Richard Alberto and Jerry L. Stivers III of the Federalsburg Police Department, and Scott M. Duhamell and Amanda L. Knox of the Kent County Sheriff’s Office.
