Newberry to Speak at Wor-Wic Graduation

R. Alan Newberry, president and chief executive officer of the Peninsula Regional Health System, will address Wor-Wic Community College graduates at commencement exercises on Tuesday, May 8, at 7 p.m., at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury.

Newberry joined Peninsula Regional as executive vice president and chief operating officer in 1992. In 1997, he was promoted to his current position, which includes overseeing a fully-integrated health delivery system that has more than 3,000 employees and affiliates.

Newberry is chairman of the Maryland Hospital Education Institute and is a member of the quality improvement committee for Premier Inc. He serves on the executive committee and financial planning council of the Maryland Hospital Association and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Newberry is a past board vice chairman and lifetime member of the Kentucky Hospital Association.

In his role as a local community leader, Newberry serves on numerous committees and boards, including Salisbury Urban Ministries, the Greater Salisbury Committee, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce and the Wicomico Visioning Committee.

He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City and his master’s degree in hospital administration from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in Minneapolis. Prior to coming to Peninsula Regional, he held senior leadership positions in Kentucky.
