Wor-Wic Foundation Welcomes New Members

The Wor-Wic Community College Foundation recently welcomed Tony Gilkerson of Salisbury and Dr. David Harry Schiff of Berlin as new members of the board of directors.

Gilkerson, a developer with Gillis Gilkerson Inc. in Salisbury, is a graduate of James M. Bennett High School. He served on the college’s local advisory council from 2003 to 2006. Gilkerson was a past board member of the Wicomico Rotary Club, Salisbury Optimist Club, United Way of the Eastern Shore and the Life Crisis Center. He also served as president of the East Wicomico Little League from 1998 to 2004. Gilkerson and his wife, Donna Crockett-Gilkerson, a physical therapist at Deer’s Head Hospital in Salisbury, have two sons who are enrolled at Wor-Wic.

Schiff, a dentist in Berlin, received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond and his doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Maryland Baltimore. Schiff is a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Ocean City, where he served on the church board from 1998 to 2001. He volunteers with the Worcester County Board of Education to offer free dental screenings during National Dental Month in February. His past memberships include Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lower Eastern Shore and Worcester County Youth and Family Counseling. Schiff, and his wife, Lisa Elam-Schiff, a self-employed therapist and guidance counselor, are also members of the Eastern Shore Chapter of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
