Wor-Wic Changes Campus Smoking Policy
December 10, 2007

In an effort to provide the opportunity for students, visitors and employees to access and utilize all campus facilities, the board of trustees at Wor-Wic Community College recently voted to change the college’s smoking policy. Changes to the policy go into effect on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008.

The new policy allows smoking only in parking lots, with the exception of the lot in front of the Academic and Administrative Building (AAB). The new policy is designed to allow access to grounds and buildings without unwanted exposure to tobacco smoke while making reasonable accommodations for those who choose to smoke.

Violators will receive verbal warnings from security officers or college employees. Repeat offenders or those who refuse to comply will be issued a violation, which carries a $20 fine.

A copy of the entire smoking policy can be obtained from the college receptionist by calling (410) 334-2800.
