Wor-Wic Offers Summer Courses for Gifted and Talented Students

Parents of gifted and talented students entering the fourth through ninth grade in the fall of 2008 can register their children now through June 13 for Summer Scholars courses being offered by the continuing education division at Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury.

The courses are being offered Monday through Friday, beginning July 7, at the college campus on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road.

This year, students can take full- or half-day courses. Full-day courses will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a one-hour lunch. Half-day courses, which are offered from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m., can also be taken back-to-back, with a supervised lunch hour, to create a full-day schedule.

A variety of new one-week courses are being offered in science, math, foreign languages, technology, and cooking. Topics include environmental and aquatic sciences, prehistoric geology, physics, cryptography, problem-solving, cooking, French, Spanish, and digital photography and videography.

Before and after care is available at the college’s on-campus child development center for children through the age of 12.
