Ocean Resorts Golf Club Grand Opening to be Held Aug. 13
July 28, 2008

Just a few months after Wor-Wic Community College announced that the Ocean Resorts Golf Club was given to the college by an anonymous donor, the college is announcing a grand opening celebration on Wednesday, Aug. 13.

Local dignitaries, members of the board of trustees, state and county elected officials, employees and other friends of the college are expected to join Jeff Fields, director of golf, and Dave Reichenberg, golf superintendent, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and cake reception, at 10 a.m.

From noon to 6 p.m., area golfers are invited to play at a discounted rate of $20 per person, which includes golf cart and free hot dogs and soda.

The 18-hole course, which includes 161 acres with a clubhouse, cart shed, maintenance building and related equipment, was recently appraised at more than $3.3 million, making it the largest gift in Wor-Wic’s history.

A limited liability company (LLC) was formed to operate the club as an auxiliary enterprise.

The college is also exploring the option of using the business for instructional purposes in the areas of business, hotel-motel-restaurant management, pesticide safety and turf management.

Anyone interested in attending the ribbon cutting and reception at 10 a.m. is asked to call the college at (410) 334-2810 by Wednesday, Aug. 6.

Anyone interested in playing golf between noon and 6 p.m. should call the club at (410) 641-5643 for a tee time.
