Wor-Wic Offers Summer Courses for Gifted and Talented Students

Registration has begun for Summer Scholars at Wor-Wic Community College. Parents of fourth through ninth grade gifted and talented students can register their children now through June 1.

Students can take courses such as “Bubble, Bubble: Cauldron of Chemistry,” “Rocking with Robots,” “Scrubs 101” and “Wild World of Weather.”

Other topics include environmental, aeronautical and aquatic sciences, cooking, crime scene investigation, digital photography, geology of natural disasters, nature painting and origami.

The one-week courses are designed for public and private school gifted and talented students entering grades four through nine in the fall of 2009.

The courses are being offered Monday through Friday, beginning July 13. Students can take full- or half-day courses. Full-day courses will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a one-hour lunch. Half-day courses, which are offered from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m., can also be taken back-to-back to create a full-day schedule.
