Law Enforcement Class Graduates

Eighteen law enforcement officers from Wicomico, Worcester, Dorchester, Caroline, Talbot and Queen Anne’s counties graduated in the 55th entrance-level class of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy (ESCJA) operated by Wor-Wic Community College at the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

Graduation exercises, which were held in Guerrieri Hall at the college campus, featured a commencement address by Special Agent Robert W. Chamberlain of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Baltimore.

James M. Beatty Sr., Wor-Wic’s director of criminal justice, presided at the ceremony. Awards of certification and excellence were presented by Lee Goldman, deputy director of the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions in Woodstock, Md., and various agency representatives. Brian J. Hirshman of the Ocean Pines Police Department was the class speaker. Closing remarks were made by Goldman.

In addition to Hirshman, graduates included Thomas R. Hitty and Matthew B. Solava of the Salisbury Police Department, Kirby H. Travers of the State Fire Marshal’s Office in Salisbury, Michael C. Hickman of the Berlin Police Department, Andrew M. Yeager of the Ocean City Police Department and Michael T. Roberson of the Ocean Pines Police Department.

Upper Shore graduates included Crystal A. Lynch and Robert M. Wynn of the Easton Police Department, Jeremy A. Davidson of the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Department, Matthew R. Collins and Joseph K. Timms of the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, Wendell R. Garrison Sr. and Walton W. Rogers Jr. of the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph H. Jones III of the Cambridge Police Department, Matthew E. Watkins of the Hurlock Police Department, and Michael J. Plugge and Justin R. Reibly of the Federalsburg Police Department.
