Weingarten Poetry Reading to be Held at Wor-Wic

The public is invited to attend a poetry reading by Roger Weingarten on Thursday, April 16, at 7 p.m., in Guerrieri Hall at Wor-Wic Community College on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

Weingarten is the author of 10 poetry collections, the most recent being “Premature Elegy by Firelight” and “Greatest Hits 1972-2002.” His poems have been featured in “The New Yorker,” “The Paris Review,” “Poetry,” “Ploughshares” and “The American Poetry Review.” In addition, he has co-edited seven poetry anthologies.

Weingarten retired from Vermont College of Fine Arts (VCFA) in Montpelier, Vt., where he founded and taught in the master in fine arts in writing program and the postgraduate writers’ conference. Before joining VCFA, Weingarten taught at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz. and Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich.

He is the recipient of a Pushcart Prize, a Louisville Review Poetry Prize, a National Endowment for the Arts Award and an Ingram Merrill Foundation Award in Literature.
