Self-discovery is the first step in choosing your career. Self-assessment is a process
by which you learn more about yourself—what you like, what you don't like,
and how you react to certain situations. Knowing these things can help you determine
which occupations and work situation could be a better fit for you. Assessments
are the tools that will help you create your unique personal profile. Information
is gathered through the use of formal and informal assessments that will include
strength and interest inventories and personality assessments. Informal assessments
can be done by talking with family members, friends, co-workers and teachers. They
can describe qualities and characteristics they see in you. To obtain information
on completing a career assessment, contact the Career Services office. You can also
schedule a career counseling appointment for guidance and to decipher the assessment
results.
