Work-Study

The Federal Work-Study Program provides funds that are earned through part-time employment to assist students in financing the cost of postsecondary education. Jobs are located on and off campus and, where possible, provide students the opportunity for employment that corresponds with their educational interests. Jobs are part-time (15 hours per week) during the academic year and can be up to full-time during the summer and semester breaks, contingent on the availability of funds. The program allows students to gain valuable work experience and marketable skills. The current pay rate is $7.26/hour.

Students must meet all of the eligibility criteria listed below to be considered for work-study:

  1. Have financial need—(Federal Pell Grant eligible have first priority)
  2. US citizen or eligible non-citizen
  3. Enrolled in a degree or certificate program
  4. Enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester
  5. Make Satisfactory Academic Progress
  6. Not in default on a previous student loan or owe any overpayments on a grant or loan

Priority is given to students with the highest unmet need who also receive a Federal Pell Grant. Students not receiving a Federal Pell Grant will be referred to the Director of Career Services for alternative employment opportunities.

Students who complete their FAFSA and any other required financial aid documents by June 1st will be mailed a questionnaire and given first consideration for open positions. Students who do not meet the June 1st deadline may obtain the questionnaire on-line or from the Financial Aid Office. For additional information see the Awarding Process.
