Break the Silence

Break the Silence is a collaborative effort between the offices of Student Engagement, Retention and Student Success, and Counseling and Disabilities. This event, held in different areas of campus, typically happens during the Spring Semester. The purpose of this evens it to catalyze discussions around an issue, sexual violence, which is rarely discussed on campus, and is stigmatized in the United States.

In an attempt to raise awareness on this issue, these offices have hosted the following events:

  • The Clothesline Project (visual display)
  • A Viewing of The Hunting Ground
  • Personal Protection Demonstrations
  • It’s On Us Campaign Pledge Drive
  • Public Service Announcement
  • Guest Speakers
  • Students created and recorded original song, Take Your Chances
