September 8

Student Government and Student Engagement are having their open houses from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on the second floor of the Hazel Center (HC 208 and 210). Come by for a free coffee and pastry along with our giveaway box filled with stuff you want and need (i.e. sample sizes of luna bars, deodorant, candy, laundry detergent, USB’s and more!)

September 12

Ever hear of Geocaching? Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. We'll have 10 spotsExternal Link located on campus. Feel free to trade knickknacks with other geocachers! LearnExternal Link more now. Don't worry – we'll leave them out there for you to find if you can't nab them all right away.

September 13

At noon in the Hazel Center cafeteria, come check out an awesome show! Eh440 is an acapella group that was named the #1 touring act of 2015 by Campus Activities Magazine. Between them, they have released CDs that have topped the charts, been certified cold, toured world-wide, and recently appeared on the hit show Dragon’s Den (Canada’s version of Shark Tank) and got a deal! They were on of the top acts booked at the NACA National Convention. Eh is pronounced the Canadian way (like the first letter of the alphabet) and then the number 4 and then the number 40. September 15

For Constitution Day, we’re giving you the chance to eat lunch with a Vet! Enjoy your meal with your new found service member while people take turns reading a line from the Constitution. We’ll also be having Clubs Day where you can mosey around the tables and see what clubs and organizations we have to offer. So come on down to the café from 11:00 – 1:00 pm for some grub, readings, and a chance to enhance your campus life!

This is one of the best days of the year! We wrap up your Welcome Back party with the Family Fun Day which is similar to a carnival or fair. This year, we'll have the following attractions:

Carlos Andres Gomez (Spoken Word Poet for National Hispanic Heritage Month)- Hailed as a “truth-telling visionary” by Brass Magazine and a “lyrical prophet” by the Caymanian Compass, Carlos Andres Gomez is an award-winning spoken word poet from New York City who has performed at more than 300 colleges and universities and across four continents. A proud Latino of Colombian heritage, he also starred in HOB’s ‘Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry” and Spike Lee’s #1 movie “Inside Man” with Denzel Washington. Join us in the Hazel Center Café from 12:00 – 1:00 pm.

Election Hype Day- Voter Informational, MTV’s Rock the Vote??? There will be posters all over campus for you to read and get informed about the candidates. From October 1st through Election Day.

October 10

Kristen Merlin (Singer, for National Coming Out day) - Kristen Merlin is an established, award-winning artist from Boston, Massachusetts. She has been taking the musical world by storm with her energetic performances and powerful vocal abilities. She was recently on NBC’s Emmy award-winning show The Voice-season 6- finishing fourth overall. After touring across the US with The Voice post season, and soon after released her debut EP- Boomerang. Kristen has had the pleasure of joining major players on stage such as Country Artists- Sugarland & Bryan White, as well as International Superstar- Shakira. Come join us in the Hazel Center Café from 12pm to 1pm.

Etiquette Luncheon – The Office of Student Engagement is partnering with Career Services and the culinary students to provide Wor-Wic students the opportunity to learn professional, business etiquette for dining during interviews. Students will gain knowledge to make them more comfortable when dining with potential employers as well as future colleagues, supervisors, business partners and clients! Our mocktail hour will begin at 11:30 am then lunch will follow and will go until 12:45 pm in Fulton-Owen Hall dinning lab. Dr. George Ojie-Ahamiojie will be our guest speaker! First come first serve RSVP. Look for announcements soon!

Dream Catchers- For Native American History Month, students will be able to create their own web to allow negative dreams to flow through and catch onto positive dreams for the creator. This event provides materials and a knowledgeable facilitator for the event. In Hazel Center Café from 10am to 2pm. Hope to see you there!

Jackie Tohn-(comedian) Jackie Tohn is a musical comedian, singer/songwriter and actress who has shared the stage with Jason Mraz, Sara Bareilles & Sarah Silverman among others. Jackie has been touring the country for years with her guitar & ukulele. As an actress, she has guest starred on Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Sopranos, House of Lies, Castle and many more. She co-stars in “Sisters” with Tina Fey & Amy Poehler out this Christmas. Held in the Hazel Center Café from 12pm to 1pm. Come join us for a few laughs!


December 6

Handsome Naked (musical act) - is an award winning Hip-Hop/Rap and Comedy group from Chicago.. They recently headlined The Beat Kitchen, as well as the annual Chicago Laughingstock Comedy Music Festival, but have appeared everywhere from WGN Radio to the critically acclaimed Second City’s Death By Evening. Catch Handsome Naked on Spotify, Soundcloud, FunnOrDie, Youtube, iTunes and more. Please wear clothes to the Hazel Center Café from 12pm to 1pm for some musical fun!
