Gifted and talented students spend summer on campus

Hundreds of local gifted and talented students entering the third through ninth grades were challenged in the areas of art, history, self expression, career exploration, culinary arts, science, technology, engineering, mathematics and problem solving in this year’s Summer Scholars classes at Wor-Wic Community College.

“It was wonderful to see the children so excited, having a good time learning something new and making friends,” said Kerry Cleaver, director of continuing education and workforce development at Wor-Wic.

New courses offered this year included “Junior Journalist,” “Jaws and Claws: the Science of Jurassic Park,” “The Power of Music,” “Superheroes, Sidekicks and Villains” and “What’s in YOUR food?”

This is the 13th year Wor-Wic has hosted the summer enrichment program for young people in the area.
