Physical therapist assistant graduates participate in pinning ceremony

Seven Wor-Wic Community College students recently participated in a pinning ceremony to acknowledge their completion of the physical therapy assistant (PTA) program and an official invitation into the profession.

Dr. Tiffany Kotra-Loos, clinical coordinator and assistant professor, and Dr. William J. Bails, department head and professor in the PTA program, delivered remarks and awards to the students. Michael Plowden of Salisbury was the student speaker. In addition to Plowden, the graduates were Casey Cooper and Ashanti Hankerson of Salisbury, Cainta Virgil of Fruitland, Koby Nguyen of Princess Anne, Madison Hudson of Centreville and Sarah Yow of La Plata.

PTAs help people of all ages to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives, in a variety of settings, including hospitals, private practices, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, school systems and sports facilities. Those interested in pursuing the program can attend prospective student meetings on Wednesday, June 5, at 1 p.m. or Friday, July 5, at 9 a.m. To reserve a seat, call 410-572-8740.
