Student Spotlight: Marie-Ange Liberte

Marie-Ange Liberte

Marie-Ange Liberte recently completed the Basic Computer Training Skills program at the American Job Center through a partnership with the Lower Shore Workforce Alliance.

Through Wor-Wic, those who are unemployed or needing to upskill their technology skills in the workplace can take grant-funded, self-paced classes. Classes include Keyboarding, Introduction to Computers, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Liberte joined the program to build her computer skills and get ready for a career in health care where technology plays an important role in communication and documentation.

Through these classes, she gained confidence using Word, Excel and PowerPoint. She also feels more comfortable applying for jobs and completing program applications online.

“I would highly recommend it,” Liberte shared. “The courses are flexible, easy to follow, and both enjoyable and challenging. You can go at your own pace, and the teacher is always there to guide and encourage you. The hybrid format is very convenient, allowing me to learn from home and manage my time around my schedule. This flexibility helps me stay consistent and make progress, even while juggling multiple responsibilities.”

To participate, individuals must go to the Lower Shore American Job Center (AJC) to obtain a referral to the computer training lab, located at 31901 Tri-County Way (off Walston Switch Road on the north side of Rt. 50).

Contact the Lower Shore AJC at 410-341-6515 for information on how to obtain a referral or for hours of operation.
