Working adult takes advantage of Promise Scholarship

Raquel Weeks of Salisbury graduated from James M. Bennett High School in 2010 and then attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) for two years. Financially, attending college was a burden, and she just couldn’t juggle all her responsibilities – including school – while working full time, so she dropped out.

Wor-Wic Community College will hold an information session for anyone interested in the Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m., in Guerrieri Hall at Wor-Wic Community College on the corner of Rt. 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

Dual enrollment info session to be held Dec. 8

A virtual information session about dual enrollment at Wor-Wic Community College will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m., via Zoom. Parents and their high school juniors and seniors who are interested in beginning dual enrollment for the upcoming spring term are invited to participate.

Register now for spring classes at Wor-Wic

Wor-Wic Community College is currently accepting registrations for credit classes that are being offered during the spring term, which begins on Friday, Jan. 14. Early registration is encouraged for the best selection of classes. The payment deadline is Thursday, Dec. 2.

“Get Into Energy” math and test preparation

Wor-Wic Community College is offering a “Get Into Energy” math and test preparation course to prepare job seekers to take the pre-employment exam at Delmarva Power. The course focuses on basic math concepts and problem-solving techniques using basic mechanical concepts.

New board of trustees officers elected

Kimberly C. Gillis of Salisbury was recently named chairperson, and Morgan Hazel, also of Salisbury, was named vice chair of the board of trustees at Wor-Wic Community College.

Grad credits Wor-Wic for success

Jennifer Hall was a teenage mother when she graduated from high school. She didn’t know what she wanted to do, so she joined the Army, and served in Kuwait and Iraq. After the military, she returned to the community and couldn’t find a job.
