Tavel wins Permafrost book prize
Adam Tavel, associate professor of English at Wor-Wic Community College, was selected as the winner of the Permafrost book prize in poetry, for his book, “Plash & Levitation.”
Law enforcement class graduates
Twelve law enforcement officers from Wicomico, Worcester, Dorchester, and Talbot counties graduated in the 72nd entrance-level class of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy (ESCJA) operated by Wor-Wic Community College at the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.
PTK chapter receives awards
The Alpha Nu Omicron chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) international honor society at Wor-Wic Community College received awards at recent PTK regional and international conventions.
Wor-Wic holds 13th annual golf tournament
Wor-Wic Community College recently held its 13th annual golf tournament at the college’s Ocean Resorts Golf Club in Berlin. Proceeds from the tournament totaling $35,000 will be used to benefit the college’s on-campus child development center.
Staats named to first All-Maryland Academic Team
Wor-Wic Community College student Jessica Staats of Berlin was recently named to the All-Maryland Academic Team. The annual competition is sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa international honor society (PTK).
Dufrene receives Wor-Wic faculty honors scholarship
Noel Dufrene of Stockton, a general studies major at Wor-Wic Community College, is this year’s $500 faculty honors scholarship winner.
Wor-Wic OTA program starts this fall
Wor-Wic Community College has received provisional accreditation to admit the first 16 students into its new occupational therapy assistant program in the fall of 2014. Student applications will be accepted through July 11.
Wor-Wic Foundation welcomes five new members
The Wor-Wic Community College Foundation recently welcomed Marilyn L. Bassford and Joseph Phillips Wright III of Salisbury, Dr. Brian Desaulniers of Princess Anne, Maureen L. Howarth of Ocean City and Patrick O’Malley of Berlin as new members of the board of directors.
GMB partners with Wor-Wic to produce structural part

John J. Allen Jr. addresses Wor-Wic graduates
During commencement ceremonies for Wor-Wic Community College at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, John J. Allen Jr., vice president of Delmarva Power, gave the graduates advice that he said could help them achieve success.
