Financial Aid & Scholarships

You can go to college. We can help you pay for it!

There are many types of financial aid, and we could share dozens of pages with you about the ins and outs of financial aid. But let's keep this simple. There are generally four types of financial aid:

Grants
Aid awarded to you that you don't have to pay back.
Scholarships
Aid awarded to you because you meet special eligibility requirements, and that you don't have to pay back as long as you continue to meet those requirements.
Loans
Aid you have to borrow and repay.
Work-Study
Aid in exchange for work at Wor-Wic

This aid can come from a variety of sources- federal, state, local and private.  We even have our own Foundation that raises funds to support our students.

All of this aid has one thing in common - it starts with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid - otherwise known as the FAFSA.

Students please be aware of fraudulent FAFSA sites and scammers looking to take advantage of students. You do not have to pay to apply for federal student aid. The FAFSA Application Is FREE. Submit your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application online at the federal government’s application website, www.studentaid.gov. Note: It is a (.gov site) not a (.com site). Don’t be tricked by fraudulent sites with similar names.

First things first: The FAFSA

To be considered for any financial aid, you will first need to complete the FAFSA. You will need a federal school code to have your information sent to Wor-Wic.  Our federal school code is 013842. The videos below explain the FAFSA and give you guidance on how to complete it.

What Happens Next?

You'll receive a Student Aid Report from the department of education.  Check it and make sure it is accurate.

When Wor-Wic receives your FAFSA, you will receive an e-mail notification with instructions to monitor your financial aid checklist by logging onto myWor-Wic and finding the My Financial Aid card.  Your checklist provides real-time access to the status of your financial aid application, a list of any documents that are needed to complete the verification process, and — finally — your offer letter.

What is Verification?

Verification is the process we use to confirm that what you reported on your FAFSA is accurate. All you need to do is provide the documents on your financial aid checklist on myWor-Wic. For more information about the verification process and commonly-requested documents, please see the Verification Frequently Asked Questions.

The Offer Letter

Once your financial aid offer is ready for review, you will receive an email notification with instructions to access the last step on your financial aid checklist: review and accept your financial aid package.  Please be sure to read all financial aid policies and contact the Financial Aid Office with any questions prior to accepting.

If you have completed a Wor-Wic admissions application and your FAFSA, you can review your financial aid checklist on myWor-Wic.
