Student Ambassador Program

Student leaders who provide service to Wor-Wic and the community while gaining leadership experience.

Primary Function
A student ambassador can provide service in one of several ways, serving between 50 and 150 hours throughout the semester. An ambassador may be called upon to assist with social media/marketing, recruitment/outreach (including campus tours), event planning and representing Wor-Wic at high-profile events like receptions.

While they report directly to the director of student success, ambassadors will need to be flexible and open to receiving daily tasks and routine feedback from other campus leaders, including the outreach coordinator, director of communications, director of student engagement, academic and disabilities counselor and counselor. The ideal candidate(s) will showcase their collaborative nature.

Essential Duties
The following is not intended as, nor should they be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.

  • Provide concierge-level support to the Wor-Wic community.
  • Offers individual and group tours to respective students and guests.
  • Assists with “manning” tables during outreach events on-campus and in the community.
  • Assists in distribution of information regarding campus events and activities, including the design and execution of several bulletin boards on-campus.
  • Creates original content for digital platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, etc.
  • Attends events and campus activities to gather content for social media.
  • Collaborates with the marketing and communications departments to arrange interviews, photoshoots and video productions.
  • Promotes and assists with student engagement events.
  • Provides expertise in event planning for various units across campus, including outreach, student success and student engagement.
  • Assists with programs such as commencement, recognition events, advocacy days and receptions.
  • Assists with the set-up and break-down of events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Have completed at least one semester or at least six college credits by the start date of the position.
  • Be enrolled in a degree or certificate program with the intent to complete.
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of six credits during the semester of participation.
  • Have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA, with a minimum of 2.5 being preferred.
  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing.
  • Be willing to adhere to a professional working environment, including the ability to work with various leaders on complex tasks and being open and honest about potential concerns.
  • Have knowledge and expertise in various social media platforms and email at a minimum, with experience using Microsoft Teams and Canva preferred.
  • Be available for mandatory training prior to the start of the semester and mandatory bi-weekly meetings throughout the semester.
