How to Become a Student Worker – Monday, Sept. 18 and Wednesday, Sept. 20

Open to current Wor-Wic students, drop in anytime between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on either day in the career services office in Room 109 of Brunkhorst Hall. Interested in not only learning at Wor-Wic, but working on campus too? Come to hear about our student employment opportunities and how you can gain valuable work experience to add to your resume. Complete a student worker application online while in our office in our mini-computer lab. Facilitated by director and administrative associate of career and testing services.

Career Choices Workshop - Thursday, Sept. 28

Open to current and prospective Wor-Wic students, alumni and community members, this workshop will be held from 1-3 p.m. in Room 308 of Fulton-Owen Hall. Complete an Individualized Career Assessment to learn more about potential career paths that you can start at Wor-Wic. Unsure of your career path and what options are available? This interactive workshop will give you the opportunity to learn more about what jobs match your interests, skills and values, and help you pick a career path and major to get started at Wor-Wic. Facilitated by the director of career and testing services, along with the outreach coordinator from admissions as a guest presenter. 

Building the Perfect Cover Letter, Resume and List of References - Thursday, Oct. 12

Open to current Wor-Wic students, alumni and community members, this workshop will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Room 103C of Fulton-Owen Hall. This presentation will discuss best practices for job search documents, formatting style and content as to what to be sure to include, and what to avoid. (PowerPoint presentation along with handouts). Presented by the director of career and testing services. 

Want to Crush Your Next Interview? Do A Mock Interview with us - Wednesday, Nov. 8

Open to current Wor-Wic students, alumni and community members, this workshop will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Room 302 of the Hazel Center. Learn the most common interview questions asked by employers and how you should respond to feel more confident and stand out. We will also discuss what to wear for an interview and how body language also plays an important role. (Group interaction with handouts including a checklist to self-assess interview performance, as well as viewing a TED talk by Amy Cuddy.) Presented by the director of career and testing services. 

Evaluating Job Offers and Negotiating Your First Salary Workshop - Monday, Dec. 4

Open to current Wor-Wic students and alumni, this workshop will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in Room 103A of Fulton-Owen Hall. Learn approaches and tips to review job offers and how to evaluate the salary and benefits package. Understand basic techniques in negotiating a salary offer for the first after-college job. (PowerPoint presentation with handouts and access to free online salary negotiation resources.) Presented by the director of career and testing services.
