TEAS Testing

Frequently Asked Questions for the new Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)

What is TEAS?

It is the Test of Essential Academic Skills, which is now being offered at Wor- Wic through our vendor, ATI. The test is an assessment of basic academic knowledge in Reading, Math, Science, English and Language Usage. The overall score on the test will be used as part of the selective admission process for designated programs.

Who needs to take the TEAS?

All applicants to the Wor-Wic Community College Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Radiologic Technology programs must complete the TEAS as part of the application process. This must be done before the application deadline dates for the prospective program that applicants wish to enter. TEAS scores must be received by the college by the designated admission deadline dates and times.

When and where will the TEAS be offered at Wor-Wic?

Available dates and times for the TEAS sessions at Wor-Wic can be found on the ATI website at www.atitesting.com. Testing is done in Fulton Owen Hall in one of our computer classrooms. Students must register and pay in advance on the ATI website to attend a session – no walk-ins allowed.

How much does the TEAS cost?

Students are required to pre-pay and pre-register for the TEAS by choosing Wor-Wic as their test location on the ATI website. The current total cost for taking the test at Wor-Wic is $97, not including optional add-ons such as study materials (costs are subject to change without notice). Payment is accepted using major credit cards. Students must bring a copy of their paid receipt and test registration confirmation from ATI when they come to Wor-Wic to test for the pre-selected date. Students also have the option to take the TEAS test online through remote proctoring directly with ATI. The current cost for the remote option is $115 (costs are subject to change without notice).

Is there a study guide available for the TEAS?

ATI offers a study manual for the Test of Essential Academic Skills and two practice assessments for an additional cost.

Where does a student find their TEAS scores?

Scores for the TEAS will be available immediately following completion of the test. Official TEAS transcripts will be sent by ATI to the admissions office at Wor-Wic. Students may retrieve their scores online at www.atitesting.com. If a student cannot remember their username or password, or if they cannot locate their test scores, they need to contact ATI for additional assistance by phone at 800-667-7531. Only official transcripts from ATI will be received at Wor-Wic. We cannot accept copies of scores from students.

What is a passing score for the TEAS?

The TEAS is not a pass or fail test. Students who complete the TEAS will receive extra points based on their overall test score, as designated in the admission selection process information. Applicants who score below 41.3% (developmental level) will not be eligible for consideration for entry into the Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, or Radiologic Technology programs.

How often can the TEAS be taken?

Each applicant may take the test as often as they would like at their own expense. Only a TEAS score of at least 41.3% earned within the last two years from the program application deadline will be considered.
