Disability Innovation Fund (DIF) Program

The Disability Innovation Fund (DIF) Program is funded by the Department of Education and offers services for justice-impacted students with disabilities.

The Disability Innovation Fund supports community-driven solutions that intervene to prevent justice system involvement for youth with disabilities, guide successful transitions for those currently in juvenile facilities and build strong pathways to competitive integrated employment after release. By partnering with local organizations, families and service providers, we aim to break cycles of incarceration and create inclusive opportunities for every young person to thrive.

How We Help:

  • Comprehensive list of regional resources
  • Individual case management
  • Career and college exploration activities
  • Counseling / Success plans
  • Education and career guidance preparation
  • Work-based learning opportunities
  • Mentoring
  • Collaboration with other programs serving underserved students

Goals of the Program:

  1. Address prevention and early interventions for project participants vulnerable to entering or reentering the juvenile justice system.
  2. Focus on the transition of pre-release participants who are currently in juvenile justice facilities.
  3. Develop channels of reintegration and paths toward competitive integrated employment (CIE) for post-release participants reentering the community.
