Wor-Wic realizes that everyone’s academic journey is different, and we want to help you save time and money by applying what you’ve already learned to your program requirements with us. We accept credits from a variety of sources, and you can allocate up to 45 credits toward your degree (or 75% of a certificate program) in previously earned credits. The information below will help you decide which ones could help you and how to make sure those credits count toward your program before you’ve even started.
Steps to receive transfer credits:
The advisor will help you to determine the best way to maximize your credits that will provide the shortest path to completion.
We accept credits that have been completed at other regionally-accredited, degree-granting institutions of higher education. Upon the receipt of official transcripts, you will receive an email from the registrar’s office letting you know that it has been received. You must submit an official transcript from each college or university that you attended in order to receive credit for all your previous coursework.
During your meeting with an academic advisor, transfer credits are evaluated and submitted to the registrar for final approval. Final decisions regarding course equivalencies are determined by the registrar who compares the learning outcomes between both courses to ensure they are at least 70% comparable. Once everything has been approved, the transfer courses are then uploaded to your account.
Other important information to consider:
Students who have attended institutions from outside of the U.S. will need to have their official transcript evaluated from an accredited agency before it can be submitted to Wor-Wic for consideration. You have a choice between different types of evaluations when making your decision:
For a high school (or secondary school) transcript, we recommend the general analysis that provides only the earned credential along with the U.S. equivalency. For college, however, you can request either analysis, but you will only be eligible for transfer credits if you send the course-by-course analysis.
TEC (formerly SpanTran) has created a custom application for Wor-Wic Community College that will assist you in selecting the right kind of evaluation at a discounted rate.
We also recommend using any of these MSDE approved services, but you can elect any agency of your choice not included in our list by having them preapproved. Please contact the registrar with any questions about the agency or which evaluation you should request.
High school students in Worcester, Wicomico and Somerset counties could be eligible to receive college credit for certain occupational courses they completed in high school with a grade of “B” or better. Keep in mind that these classes are not the same as dual enrollment college courses that were taken at Wor-Wic while you were in high school. Instead, these are regular high school courses that, through an agreement between Wor-Wic and the Board of Education for the respective counties, are awarded to you as college credit to help you toward earning your degree at Wor-Wic once you’ve completed high school. Because the agreement is between your school and Wor-Wic, other colleges might not award credit for these courses upon transfer, so please check with the receiving college if you have questions about this.
In order to receive credit, students must have a copy of their high school transcripts forwarded to the registrar within three years of their high school graduation and complete at least one 100-level course at Wor-Wic. Students continuing their education with Wor-Wic after high school should request to have these courses evaluated by their advisor. Other students should contact the registrar specifically to request that the courses are applied to their account. Please see below for each agreement and a list of course articulations:
We offer college credits for a variety of standardized exams. In order to be eligible for credit, please have your official score report sent to us at registrar@worwic.edu.

Military credits and credits for specialized training recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE) are awarded the same as other transfer credits. Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard veterans can obtain a Joint Services Transcript (JST) through ACE. Air Force transcripts can be obtained from the Community College of the Air Force. Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard veterans who served prior to 1976 and Air Force veterans who served prior to 1972 can access their DD-414s through the National Archives. Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) transcripts can be requested through the DANTES website.
Wor-Wic recognizes that not all learning happens in the classroom, and credit for prior learning (CPL) offers solutions for students to receive formal credit as recognition for these types of situations. We offer credits for the coursework shown above as well as other documented learning experiences, such as industry certifications, licensures, apprenticeships and other assessments.
If you have a unique situation that you think should count for credit, contact your advisor or the registrar for more information.
