Each year we offer “Introduction to Plumbing,” a course designed to teach the basics of plumbing. This course will help you decide whether to join the plumbing apprenticeship program.
We’ve partnered with Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) – Chesapeake Shores to offer a plumbing apprenticeship program. During the day, apprentices work for local plumbing companies and earn while they learn via on-the-job training. Two evenings each week, apprentices are in class from September through May. After passing the four years of plumbing instruction courses, a backflow course, and earning on-the-job (OJT) hours, an apprentice can take the journeyman license exam from the Maryland Department of Labor. To participate in these courses, apprentices must be employed by a partnered company and have permission from their supervisor.
If you have successfully taken our “Introduction to Plumbing” course and are interested in the plumbing apprenticeship program, please contact Dr. Rhonda W. Banks at rbanks@worwic.edu or 410-334-2867.
For more information about the plumbing apprenticeship program, please visit https://abc-chesapeake.org/ and contact Traci Smith at tsmith@abc-chesapeake.org or 410-267-0347.
