Career Training

Due to state programs like the Workforce Development Sequence Scholarship and the Governor's Emergency Education Relief Fund, as well as funding from the Wor-Wic Foundation, you could be eligible for tuition assistance for the following courses:

Complete and submit the online application with all required documentation at least two weeks before the start date of the class. Students will need to complete an admissions application before accessing the online tuition assistance application.

Driver Education

Learning to drive is essential to getting and keeping a job on the Lower Eastern Shore. Tuition assistance is available to eligible Worcester, Wicomico, and Somerset county residents who plan on enrolling in the 36-hour training course. Complete and submit the online Driver Education Tuition Assistance application.

Lower Shore Workforce Alliance

Supports training costs if you are economically disadvantaged or if you have lost your job. For more information, call the Lower Shore Workforce Alliance at 410-341-6515.

Maryland Department of Labor

Provides free training in construction, metal fabrication and welding. To see if you qualify, call Quality Staffing Services at 410-742-2600 or visit their website to apply. 

Grants are also available for prospecetive certified nursing assistant students who need help with tuition, fees and books. Learn more by attending an upcoming CNA information session.

Maryland Higher Education Commission

Provides funding through the Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship for students enrolled in a sequence of non-credit courses leading to licensure or certification. Call 410-334-2978 for more information.

U.S. Department of Transportation

Provides assistance to current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces, their spouses and/or children who want to become commercial truck drivers. Call 410-334-2882 for more information.  

U.S. Veterans Administration

Provides veterans benefits for career training in approved non-credit programs, including certified nursing assistant, electrical wiring technician, HVACR, personal trainer, phlebotomy, truck driver and welding. Call 410-334-2882 for more information.

Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore

Offers financial assistance to volunteers and employees enrolled in specific non-credit courses who work for 501(c)(3) organizations in Wicomico, Worcester or Somerset County. Call 410-742-9911 for more information.

Greater Ocean City Chamber Foundation

Provides funding through the Eunice Q. Sorin Scholarship for Worcester County residents currently in the workforce who want to pursue training to advance their careers or upgrade their skills.


Through its Program for Continuing Education, this philanthropic organization supports women whose education has been interrupted who are interested in returning to complete an educational certification.

Worcester County Health Department

Provides funding to assist parents/guardians of youth enrolled in Worcester County (Berlin, Pocomoke or Snow Hill) early childcare, Head Start or Judy Center programs with select online computer skills courses that will assist in job skills training. This scholarship fund has been developed through the Farm to Library: Preventing Diabetes in Worcester County Project.
